The quality manual of the Faculty
The quality manual introduces the faculty’s internal operating principles and describes the most essential operations. The quality management system of the University of Joensuu is based on the ISO 9001:2000 standard, and the faculty's quality manual adheres to the same quality management system.
The quality manual contains information on:
1) the faculty’s management practices (e.g. the strategies that form the basis for the faculty’s operations and values, the organisational and administrative structure of the faculty, results-based management and steering at the faculty, and the annual assessment of the faculty's operations);
2) the quality policy and quality objectives (e.g. the organisation and implementation of the quality management system, the quality objectives and indicators for education);
3) the faculty’s resources and operating environments (e.g. personnel, facilities and equipment, customer needs and customer satisfaction);
4) the faculty’s operations (core operations: scientific research, teaching and societal interaction; auxiliary operations: the administrative service centre, and laboratory and technical services to support research);
5) the assessment and development of basic and postgraduate education (e.g. different working groups, indicators);
6) the faculty’s internal control and the implementation of the audits; and
7) the analysis of the data on the faculty, the development of operations and the management of nonconformities.
The quality manual will be supplemented and updated as necessary. The Faculty Council will approve the quality manual and any changes to its factual content. The Dean will approve any technical changes to the quality manual.
The quality manual is available (currently in Finnish only) here (pdf) . The quality manual is also available in the “opetuksen ja tutkimuksen laatu” folder on the faculty’s network drive T. In addition to the quality manual, the folder also contains other documents and memos relating to the quality of teaching and research.
